EDI through CMS is a convenient and sometimes necessary way to report to the state without filling forms or physically mailing CMS-printed state forms.

EDI in CMS can also used to exchange claim, billing, and provider data with bill review partners so bill review is as automated as if it were done directly through the QISS Claims Management System.
